Friday, 31 July 09 - Great Food and Baking

Today we had a lot of fun doing many different things. We rode horses but after that people were assigned with different jobs. I got the first job of making bread. It was good at the start but then we got into kneading the bread for 8 minutes. Along side me was Daniel and Brendan and swapping around with Miss V made it fun.

I then moved onto my next job picking up cow dung with Joe, Brendan and Mr L. It wasn't too bad, and it showed that the teacher got into it too by helping us. After a long day we finished our last job making the fire, writing the prayer and doing the flags. I really got into the jobs and enjoyed them. It has been a great experience so far.

Mt Binga has been one of the best camps I have been to in a while. The food is delicious and we are having heaps of fun.

Thursday July 30 - It's all go!

Hey everyone at home,

Mt Binga is great!
You'll do lots of activities and also get lots of free time.
We went on campout on the second night of Binga, with both boys and girls hiking back to Mt Binga. It was cold, but a good experience.
Guys at home, make sure that you bring warm clothes.
When we woke up on campout, there was ice on the outside of our tents!!
We think that Adam's toes turned blue and Luke was complaining about his fingers in the cold!
Our introduction to horses was a great experience as we now know what the personality of our horses is like.
Orienteering was awsome as we roamed around in the bush for a while, found all our clues and then our way back to the camp.
We came back to camp and then worked out all of the new jobs that we are doing.
Everyone in 9A is enjoying themselves, so you wouldn't want to miss out on it!
See you all soon

Tuesday July 28 - Off to a great start!

The bus trip was ok. We had some laughs and then we finally arrived at Mt Binga.
It looked okay when we arrived but once we finally settled in it was fun and we all experienced the jobs that they had set for us.

Today was pretty fun, with lots of listening to Mr Grieger because he had to say lots about camp. We spent time cracking macadamia nuts and trying to pick up our navigation skills.
Bye for now.
Jack

We were all assigned chores to do like; baking, cooking, putting up and down the flags and many more. The food here is really good so far although it is different to mum's tasty cooking!!
We are all getting on okay and trying to get used to waking up at 6 in the morning!!
So far so good.

Tuesday July 28 - Bring it on!

Year 9A are only one day into the Binga adventure for 2009 and already there is so much to say and see.
We started out early on Monday morning with packing the bus and worship to see us on our way. Joe proved to be an absolute champ at bus packing, already showing us the Binga spirit.
For future reference Joe, make sure you grab all of your own bags!!!!
We all then shared worship for students, parents and staff that reminded us of the adventures ahead and the opportunities 9A have to grow and learn about themselves during this time.
Then with a kiss and cuddle from mums and dads (and a scattering of tears) we drove off.
And we drove.
And we drove.
We stopped off at Wivenhoe Dam – which contained water!!! – for a yummy morning tea of Tim Tams, lollies, chips and coke.
After a lively game of footy, and a pit stop, we continued to drive.
After travelling through the dust, that somehow actually entered the bus, we arrived at Binga, amid cries of “There are the horses”, “Where are the cows” and “Is that where we’re sleeping?"
Everyone met the supervisors and settled into their cabins.
After seemingly no time at all, I needed to leave the kids….. for a whole 4 weeks !..... and start the huge drive back to Faith.

I wish 9A the best for their month away, and will miss them every day.
