9A - Week 1

We have had an action packed 4 days after the initial settling in period.

So far in the program there has been:

Camp out - where we got to pitch tents and sleep out in the bush. We cooked our food on some little stoves, but nothing too scary happened!

Orienteering - We leearnt how to find our direction and follow a simple course using a compass. Good thing we stayed around the campsite for this!

Intro to Horses - This session gave us some good ideas on how to be confident with a horse! We learnt how to saddle up, fit a bridle, which side to mount and basic skills for getting a horse to do what we want! We haven't made it out of the horse yards yet! Next week we will get to go on a ride and try out our new skills.

Doing all of the cooking this week has been a new experience for many of us!!!! We've had to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cereal for breakfast is good, sandwiches for lunch are ok, but some dinners have been 'interesting'. Maybe the cooks next week will be advenurous and experienced!!???? We might get the french toast for breakfast right too!!!

Saturday we get to learn how to use the twin tub washing machines and do all of our washing! The good thing will be being able to rest and hang around the camp.

All good here,
Love

Camp 1 - 9A Are off to Binga

Mt Binga 2008

This week has seen the beginning of new adventures and challenges for Year 9 students. The three Year 9 classes will spend four weeks each at Mt Binga and will be presented with diverse challenges. These will range from personal challenges such as; abseiling, horse riding and bushwalking to group challenges that involve problem solving and the dynamics of living closely in community for an extended period of time.

The challenges faced will present opportunities for these young people to learn, grow and mature, all in a unique environment outside of their normal experience and comfort zone.

Please pray for our 9A students as they begin their journey at Mt Binga. Please also feel welcome to write a letter to our students to help support them in their experience. Mail is delivered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The postal address for Mt Binga is;
